Dream Cruises to Host the First ‘China’s Got Talent’

The dream experience on Genting Dream

Shanghai, 28 June 2016 — Dream Cruises, the first-ever Asian luxury cruise line, revealed today at a trade roadshow that guests onboard Genting Dream, the inaugural cruise ship from Dream Cruises, will be entertained and enthralled by a theatrical representation of the global TV phenomenon ‘China’s Got Talent’ as they cruise the seas. The Dream Experience will also be the first ‘China’s Got Talent’ show at sea.

Dream Cruises is Genting Hong Kong’s new cruise line, catering to the large and rapidly growing high-end market in China and Asia. The cruise line offers inspirational luxury, which is Asian at heart and international in spirit, delivering the highest levels of onboard guest service and spacious comfort in the region. Genting Dream, currently undergoing fit-out at shipbuilders Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, will debut from her homeport of Guangzhou (Nansha) in November this year.

Mr. Thatcher Brown. President of Dream Cruises took part in a lively unveiling ceremony with Ms. Vivian Yin, CEO of FremantleMedia China and Mr. Michael McKay, President of activeTV. FremantleMedia with British entertainment company SYCO own the "Got Talent" rights around the world, while activeTV are the Emmy Award-winning producers who are responsible for producing the show with the experienced Entertainment team at Dream Cruises.

After the ceremony, roadshow guests enjoyed a spellbinding live performance by Jinlai Zhang, a young acrobat who has previously performed on ‘China’s Got Talent.’ He appeared to defy gravity as he performed his routine, titled ‘Spacewalk’, to inspiring music, amazing the audience with his strength and agility.

The ‘China’s Got Talent’ – The Dream Experience will be a 45 minute theatrical representation of the worldwide hit TV series held in the Zodiac Theatre, the cruise ship’s 999 seat state-of-the-art venue. An energetic, booming opening montage, complete with the same lighting, set design and theme music as the main China’s Got Talent show, will set the scene.

Casting for the performers will shortly take place throughout China, tapping into Genting Hong Kong’s vast experience in booking hundreds of acts for their cruise ships and entertainment venues around the world.

Dream Cruises President Mr. Thatcher Brown said that ‘China’s Got Talent’ – The Dream Experience offers dream entertainment options exclusively for their guests. “I am delighted that our guests will have the opportunity to get up close and personal to the performers in the show. I know the stage will be full of searing performances, tears and drama – and guests will be part of the action by voting for their favourite performer.”

“FremantleMedia is delighted to seal the entertainment collaboration with Dream Cruises. Both brands aim at providing enthralling entertainment and inspirational experiences to our audiences,” said Ms. Vivian Yin, CEO of FremantleMedia China. “As one the biggest entertainment content creators and distributors in scripted entertainment shows, FremantleMedia is excited that our top tier intellectual property – the ‘Got Talent’ series is part of this amazing journey at sea, which inspires us to serve our audience better with an upgraded experience..”

“Taking the show to sea is an exciting new challenge for us and we will give guests onboard Genting Dream an evening to remember which will be every bit as good as the main China’s Got Talent show,” said Mr. Michael McKay, President, activeTV.

The ‘China’s Got Talent’ – The Dream Experience is just one of the many exciting entertainment options that will be available onboard Genting Dream.
