Guangzhou (Nansha), 19 November 2017 – Dream Cruises, “Asia’s luxury cruise line” under Genting Cruise Lines, debuted its second mega ship in her new year-round homeport in Guangzhou (Nansha) and embarked on her inaugural sailing today, underlining the company’s continued commitment to the development of cruise tourism in Southern China. Distinguished guests including Ms. Liu Yumei, Director General, Guangzhou Tourism Bureau and Mr. Liu Zhao Yang, Deputy Head of District, People’s Government of Nansha District, Guangzhou City were joined by government dignitaries, business partners and media at Nansha International Cruise Terminal to witness this historical moment.

Fresh from her Handover Ceremony in Bremerhaven, Germany on 26 October, World Dream celebrated her inaugural and christening at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal at the tail end of her epic journey that saw her travel to Gibraltar, Egypt and Sri Lanka before making her way to Hong Kong. Today, World Dream began her homeport deployment from Nansha with her inaugural 6-night cruise to Manila and Boracay in the Philippines.

Presently, Genting Cruise Lines leads the way with the highest number of cruise calls and passenger capacity in Guangzhou (Nansha), making substantial contributions to the development of cruise tourism industry in the region. In 2016, SuperStar Virgo and Genting Dream made a total of 104 calls to Nansha, with total throughput of 326,000, contributing 100% of full-year cruise passenger throughput in Nansha. From January to November 2017, Genting Dream made a total of 76 calls to Nansha, with over 270,000 passenger throughput to date.

During the event, Mr. Kent Zhu presented a scale model of World Dream to Mr. Shi Tingfeng, Chief Engineer, Guangzhou Port Group Co. Ltd., on behalf of Genting Cruise Lines, in commemoration of the collaboration by both parties on the development of cruising infrastructure in Nansha.
After the inaugural ceremony, gala dinners were held at Silk Road and Seafood Grill restaurants on board, where guests enjoyed a feast of contemporary Chinese cuisine and premium seafood dishes, followed by a sneak preview of the new amenities and services on board World Dream.
