Guangzhou, 24 May 2016
- Over three hundred trade partners and travel media representatives experienced the wonder and luxury of Genting Dream, the inaugural cruise ship from Dream Cruises, the first-ever Asian luxury cruise line, at the Guangzhou Travel Trade Show “Discover the luxury of Dream Cruises” on Tuesday. The lively and informative event gave guests a taste of the glamour and opulence that the Dream Cruises experience offers guests.
Dream Cruises is Genting Hong Kong’s new cruise line, catering to the large and rapidly growing high-end market in China and Asia. The cruise line offers inspirational luxury, which is Asian at heart and international in spirit, delivering the highest levels of onboard guest service and spacious comfort in the region. Genting Dream, currently undergoing fit-out at shipbuilders Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, will debut from her homeport of Guangzhou (Nansha) in November this year.
Guests came from different cities of Guangdong to attend the show and were welcomed ‘onboard’ into the WOW Welcome area by a glamorous mermaid, the icon of Dream Cruises. They also had the opportunity to take photos with the ‘artwork’ which adorns the hull of Genting Dream. Conceived by Chinese pop-artist Jacky Tsai, the art piece entitled “Voyage of a Lover’s Dream” envisages an ethereal and fantastical journey of love between a mermaid and an astronaut.
Whilst enjoying a welcome cocktail accompanied by music and songs from a sultry female singer, our travel partners and media guests gained a strong visual impression of Genting Dream through the presentation of the hull art, a brand video, product and service introduction and ship-inspired decor.
After the welcome reception, guests proceeded into the main hall where Dream Cruises President Mr. Thatcher Brown explained to the audience how the fit-out of Genting Dream was progressing. “I am delighted to show to you all today what our valued guests can look forward to when they set sail on Genting Dream,” he said. “We are very proud of our inaugural cruise ship and believe it offers our discerning guests the ultimate in onboard entertainment, luxury and enriching experiences.”
The dream experience was showcased with four uniquely-themed demonstrations of what guests can look forward to once they board Genting Dream:
Dream of Indulgence - 35 restaurant and bar concepts are available onboard Genting Dream, and some of the gourmet highlights were demonstrated to the trade show visitors. Four different cocktails were also served: the Chamomile Cooler cocktail, the Dream cocktail, the Beauty Dream mocktail and an Apple Mojito mocktail.
Dream of Luxury - Rainer Markt, Butler Training Manager and his team, showcased Genting Dream’s luxurious premier accommodation: Dream Palace, the luxurious ‘ship-within-a-ship’, with two floors of lavish suites featuring European-style butler service which comes complete with European-style butler service. To the delight of the audience, a butler then demonstrated some of his service skills, including how to pack a capsule wardrobe and how he would iron and fold a newspaper for his guest’s satisfaction.
Dream of Entertainment - Guests onboard Genting Dream can look forward to the ultimate in five-star entertainment, and this was demonstrated by live performances from the act ‘Quick Change’; singer Sheila Marie; and Dream Cruises’ iconic mermaid performing an ethereal dance show. There will be many enriching activities available onboard to enhance guests’ perspectives, unlock new talents and fulfil dreams, and guests at the trade show had the chance to dress-up as a Chinese Empress or have their hair styled by top Hong Kong stylist Calvin Chan.
Dream of Destination - Genting Dream takes its guests to dream destinations in Asia and at today’s trade show the audience watched a demonstration of the fascinating and unique cultures of Vietnam and Hong Kong.
